BMW Announces Winner of Olympic Pavilion Construction Contest

BMW of Riverside is incredibly excited today because BMW has just announced who won the design for its Pavilion at the Olympic Park. If you were not previously aware, BMW is an official automotive partner for the 2012 Olympic Games in London! To design its pavilion, BMW created a competition between six major architecture firms and the British firm Serie is the winner!

Serie was selected due to its forward-thinking design that incorporated one of the key values of BMW: sustainability. How can a pavilion be sustainable, you ask? Well, since the Pavilion will be situated on top of the Waterworks River, Serie has created a way to use the water from the river to cool the tent and then sent the now filtered water back into the river with a super cool "water curtain." The building will also be constructed using recycled steel; the use of carbon-intensive construction materials have been decreased as much as possible.

On the top floor of the two-story Pavilion, BMW will have on display its newest vehicles like the m3 bmw. On the lower level, there will be a variety of visitor exhibits displaying BMW's vision for the future. As part of their sponsorship, BMW will be providing about 4,000 vehicles utilizing the latest in BMW's sustainable automotive technology. Cool stuff.

Look out for some of the latest BMW vehicles at the games this year, but feel free to check many of them out now at BMW of Riverside. Give us a call or stop by the lot to schedule a test drive today! We have luxury vehicles suited to any need you could possibly have!
