BMW Steps its Game up for London Olympics

The 2012 Olympic games are set to be held in London this year, and we here at BMW of Riverside couldn't be more thrilled! After all, the Olympic games are where the best of the best in the world go to compete for their country, and there's sure to be more fast-paced action than even the most diehard sports fans can endure!

Of course, another exciting aspect of the Olympic games are the sponsorships and spectacle of the whole thing. Take for instance, the role that BMW plans to play in the game. No, the Bavarian automaker isn't planning to send models from the new BMW lineup to compete. They are, however, sending a total of 4,000 vehicles form the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series to serve as special transportation for the athletes.

BMW expects all of the vehicles that are being provided to meet the London Organizing Committee's greenhouse fuel economy regulations, and even expects that 200 of them will be all-electric. What's more impressive than the fact that BMW has managed to secure a spot as the premier provider of VIP transport for the London games, however, is the fact that in doing so, they've also managed to get the city to reserve 30 miles of lanes for the traffic to flow through efficiently. For visitors, this unfortunately means that these lanes of traffic are off limits to the public. But then again, it wouldn't be VIP transport otherwise.

More interested in driving a BMW than watching an athlete ride in one? You're not alone, and we here at 3060 Adams Street Riverside, CA 92504 don't blame you one bit. In fact, we fully encourage you to contact us online or by phone at (888) 431-0835 to arrange a test drive on models like the BMW 335i, 135i, and 650i, or even any of the used BMW models that we carry too.
