Certified pre-owned sits a tier above a standard used vehicle. To earn BMW Certified status, a BMW must be five years old or newer and show more than 300 but fewer than 60,000 miles on the odometer. It then has to clear a 360° inspection completed and approved by BMW Trained Technicians, covering mechanical condition, safety systems, tires, wheels, brakes, and body fit and finish, followed by a diagnostic and road test. Its CARFAX or AutoCheck report is reviewed as part of the process. Anything that falls short of BMW’s standards is repaired or replaced, and reconditioning is done with Genuine BMW Parts.
Every BMW Certified vehicle is backed by the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Protection Plan, which provides coverage for one year with unlimited miles after the 4-year/50,000-mile BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Protection Plan expires. Certified vehicles also include BMW Roadside Assistance and a vehicle history report at no cost. If you are the original owner of a BMW Certified vehicle, you can transfer the protection plan to a private buyer by completing BMW’s transfer application.
