The vehicle must be five years old or newer. The odometer must read more than 300 miles but fewer than 60,000. Inside the BMW 360° Inspection Checklist

Every vehicle that earns Certified status must pass a 360° vehicle inspection completed and approved by BMW Trained Technicians. The inspection evaluates safety, performance, and wear in detail. Understanding the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty

What the Limited Warranty Covers

Every Certified vehicle is backed by the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty. It provides coverage for one year with unlimited miles. That year begins after the four-year/50,000-mile BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty expires.

It is worth being precise about what that coverage is. The CPO Limited Warranty is an exclusionary warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship — comprehensive, but not unlimited in scope. BMW publishes a defined schedule of items it does not cover, and routine wear and maintenance items sit on that list.

Battery Coverage for Electrified Models

For electrified models, additional battery protection applies. BMW of North America warrants the high-voltage lithium-ion battery assembly against defects in materials and workmanship. That term runs eight years or 100,000 miles from the original in-service date, whichever comes first. Because it runs from the in-service date rather than from a purchase date, whatever coverage remains follows the vehicle. Note that this protects the high-voltage battery assembly specifically — it is not blanket coverage of the electrified drivetrain.

A second layer of battery protection applies to Model Year 2022–2025 BMW Certified all-electric vehicles with retail delivery dates of March 1, 2026 and later. On those cars, the high-voltage traction battery assembly is separately covered for capacity loss. If the battery’s State of Health drops below 75%, that coverage runs eight years or 100,000 miles from the original in-service date. BMW’s Certified program materials note the broader industry standard for this threshold is 70%.

BMW Roadside Assistance

Certified ownership also includes BMW Roadside Assistance, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with no mileage limitation. Coverage extends for a defined period measured from the vehicle’s original in-service date, and BMW documents the exact term on the Consumer Identification Sheet your BMW center provides at the time of sale. For a flat tire, a dead battery, or a tow, BMW Roadside Assistance is reachable at 1-800-332-4269. The service is manufacturer-backed. Towing routes to an authorized BMW center, and warranty repairs performed there use Genuine BMW Parts. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 2301–2312), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because routine maintenance or repairs were performed elsewhere or with non-BMW parts.
